Quest Log: How It Started

Back in May, a nine-year-old announced an adventurous quest: earn a Nintendo Switch 2 with his own hands. A legendary merchant discount knocked the console-and-game bundle down to $450, which put the target at $510 once the charity pledge was added on top.

He did not just hit it — he outsmarted it. Late in the quest Malachi found a discounted refurbished Switch 2, which trimmed the cost, saved weeks of grinding, and still left the giving promise fully intact.

The quest was never really about the gaming gear. It was a masterclass in grinding for XP: saving, selling, giving, investing, and working hard for something you want.

A New Goal Is Coming

Here is the plot twist nobody saw coming: after cashing out, Malachi discovered that a one-time payout is not the same thing as cash flow. The console is bought. The income stopped. He noticed.

So he is figuring out what he is actually good at and turning it into something repeatable. Business ideas will be posted here soon — and in the meantime he is open to suggestions, offers, and odd jobs.

The Lawn Mowing Debut

The very first mission. Getting outside, working hard, and earning actual coins — a great way to start leveling up the quest for the Nintendo Switch 2. A huge thank you to his first clients for taking a chance on a brand-new business.

Auburn Adventure & Tree Care

Malachi and his support players (Dad and his sister Nicolette) drove to Auburn, NE for lawn care and tree limb removal. The lawn was so big it took all three batteries for the electric mower.

A Family Partnership

Working alongside family turned out to be a rare power-up. They coached him, trained him, and showed him the best routes to take. Today's mission: digging a hole and planting a bush for Great Grandpa, with help from his great uncle and Teddy the pup keeping a close watch on his form.

Neighborhood Yardwork Quest

Time to help out the local village. Malachi, Nicolette, and Mom teamed up as a trio to help a neighbor tackle some much-needed yardwork — earning XP by serving the community.

South Bellevue Clean Up — The Hardest Boss

Malachi and his favorite (and only) sister set out on a neighborhood clean up around South Bellevue. They filled a full 13-gallon bag with cans, bottles, plastics, and metal — a solid 20 lbs of loot. Malachi later named this the single most challenging task of the entire quest.

The Church Clean-Up — Final Mission

The last objective was not about money at all. Aunt Alyssa sponsored Malachi to do a good deed in the community, so he helped clean a church — and vacuuming it became his favorite task of the whole summer. With this deed done, the quest was complete.
